PROJECT DESCRIPTION

J. Sterling Morton School District #201 has made it very clear that optimal learning environments for District students are a priority. Consequently, the District identified the need to add air conditioning to all classrooms as a master plan goal. In 2017, SD201, with assistance from Vision Construction, embarked on a five-year project to replace the old, outdated steam boiler heating system with a new hot and cold-water heating and cooling system. Due to the age and construction of the facility, new infrastructure meant disturbing existing, outdated finishes in all areas; as a result, the team renovated every corridor and classroom impacted by the upgrades during each phase.

Along with providing the students with temperature-controlled learning environments, the Team took this opportunity to replace dated classrooms of yesterday with classrooms of the future. This multi-phase project allowed the District to expand curriculum offerings by also providing new CTE and STEAM labs. This five-year upgrade of systems and finishes ultimately provides the students of Morton East with new, innovative learning environments across the entire 350,000 square foot facility. Vision has successfully completed the first three years of these upgrades and continues to work with the District to provide premier learning environments for future generations.
